It seems that as you get older the busier you become. In the last few months Ken has started Puppy Kindergarten classes on behalf of our state canine body 'Dogs ACT'. Classes are held indoors for puppies from 8 to 10 weeks old. Classes are free for all members of Dogs ACT. We are encouraging breeders and their puppy buyers to take advantage. Ken is well qualified to run these classes with a Certificate III in Dog Behaviour and Training with the National Dog Trainers Federation (Australia) and the Canine Good Citizen Instructors Course (Certificate IV) through the Delta Society of Australia.

In addition Ken is heading up the Dogs ACT Education and Promotions sub-committee and is an active member of the Health and Welfare sub-committee. Our first event is being held at the ACT Ladies Kennel Club shows on the 6th and 7th of Dcember where Genetic Technologies and Frozen Puppies will be giving lectures each day.

On the home front we are trying to replace our small shed with a large American Barn plus keep up with the mowing, weeding and pruning required with the onset of Spring. Not an easy task with so much going on. We have been to a few shows since my last report. Toby is now 4.5 months old and is developing beautifully. Unfortunately he has been having trouble with his new teeth so the ears have been up and down like yo yo's. The results of our outings are listed below.

I also have to report that Toby's sister 'Anja' started her show career in fine form winning Baby Puppy in Group under Mrs Kerry Cannon (NSW). Well done Anja and Leanne.

Our first show out for a very long time and the very first show for our new baby boy 'Toby' (Kaizen White Hot Starfire). Had a fabulous day. Here are the results and some photos to go with them.

Neo (Ch Dawnsnow A Hot Lil Devil)
We are very excited to announce that Neo obtained his Australian Championship title with a Best of Breed, Runner Up in Group and Intermediate in Group. Neo is bred by Jacque Wade and is out of Ch Zamora Hotten Sensational (Harley) and Ch Dawnsnow Whata Foxy Lady (Kanika)

Monty (Kaizen Born to be Wild)
Monty was Runner up Best of Breed and Junior in Group. Monty is out of Ch Kaizen Arwen Evenstar (Princess) and Ch Kalaska Aleski of Voyage (Alex). Princess will be mated to Neo in the summer of 2008.

Toby (Kaizen White Hot Starfire)
It was Toby's first show and he started well winning the 3/6 months sweepstakes out of a field of 31. Toby is out of Ch Zamora Hotten Sparkling and Ikiliikkujan Derek of Voyage (Imp FIN)

Well I have been very busy and so the website has not been updated for some time. Our biggest news is the arrival of Portia's puppies. The puppies arrived on June 7; 5 boys and 1 girl. They are now 7 weeks old and are ready to go to their new homes this coming weeked. We still have one boy who needs a home. Here are some updated photos of Starya and her brother Murphy who lives with, is loved by and shown by Helen Calderwood and her girls Hannah and Ella. Don't expect these kids to be white. The biscuit colouring on them at 6 months of age is very very strong.

NEW FLASH!!!
Starya goes Baby in Show at the NSW Samoyed Club Championship show

Well what a weekend. Started of with an All Breeds championship show on Saturday. Princess, Starya's mum came our for the first time after the puppies and was awarded Challenge Bitch. She's only in 3/4 coat at the momement so it was very unexpected and we were thrilled. Princess is a delight to show, her temperament is superb and she just loves being a show dog. Her dauughter Starya looks like she has inherited her mums love of showing off and was awarded Baby in Group. We have plans to mate Princess again on her summer season to Neo, Dawnsnow A Hot Lil Devil, who was Challenge Dog and Best of Breed, so stay tuned.

Sunday was the NSW Samoyed Club championship show. We only showed the young ones Neo and Starya. Neo was place 2nd out of 5 in Junior Dog. A fabulous result considering he lost a great deal of his puppy coat when I bathed and blow dried him. Starya competed against 7 other baby bitches to win her class and then went on to win Baby in Show, beating the baby dog, the winner of a class of 3 baby dogs. It was fabulous to see so many babys out and about. We have not seen these numbers for a long time.

After a well earned break we decided to head to Newcastle for a weekend of showing. Newcastle is a 4 1/2 hour drive, so we packed the camping gear and all the dogs, 10 of them, into the trailer and headed off. Apart from the wet weather we had a great weekend.

Friday 18th January - evening show
Kaizen Born to Be Wild (Monty) was 1st in the 3-6 months sweepstakes class from an entry of 37 all breed baby puppies, he was also first in his class (2 Samoyed babies) and Baby of Breed,
Dawnsnow A Hot Lil Devil (Neo) was 1st in his puppy class and was Puppy of Breed,
Ch Kaizen Rupert Bear (Rupert) was Challenge Dog and Runner Up Best of Breed to the Open Bitch

We are looking forward to it immensely as there will be four of the Princess (Ch Kaizen Arwen Evenstar) and Alex (Kalaska Aleski of Voyage) puppies competing.
