| Those
of us who choose to share our lives in close companionship with a species
even shorter lived than ourselves, who choose to form special relationships
and bonds that cannot be fully understood let alone explained, are fully
aware that we will experience more than our fair share of grief. But knowing
this does not alter our course and so does not lessen the pain of each passing.
